Who writes lumi's research and guides
Every research paper and every how-to guide on this site is written by David Whitfield, the founder of lumi. There is no editorial pool and no agency: one named person writes the page, and the byline links here so you can see who that is before you rely on a figure.
How the work is done
Research papers report how organisations in the lumi reward benchmark answered a question. Each paper gives the exact question wording, the number of organisations answering it (the base), the full distribution of answers and the collection window, and ends with a data appendix carrying every question it used. No figure is estimated, modelled or filled in. How the bases are built, how "Not applicable" answers are handled and what lumi will and will not publish are set out in the methodology.
Guides state the law at a date, from the source. Rates, thresholds, deadlines and commencement dates are checked at GOV.UK, legislation.gov.uk, the HMRC manuals, Acas and the case law itself, and every guide lists its sources with publisher, title and date, plus the date the law was checked and the date it is due for review. Where a guide sets out a design choice, it gives the options and what each one costs you — it does not pick for you.
Checking. Before publication the library was checked by reviewers who wrote none of it: every percentage re-checked against the data sheet behind its paper, every rate, deadline and worked example verified at source, and the whole library read once more for the same fact stated two different ways. What that pass found, and what it changed, is recorded in the QA report held with the content source.
Corrections
If a figure or a legal statement on any of these pages is wrong, say so and it gets corrected, dated, with a note of what changed. Nothing is quietly edited.
